DIY Disaster – Hand Tools

It took me years to make the switch. I’m not sure why. Time and again I was drawn into the cheap hand tool trap. You know the ones, piled up in a bin at the front of the store. I bought the same tools several times over trying to ‘save a buck’. But, the truth is, I’m hard on my tools. They get put through their paces many times over, and are even called in to ‘pinch hit’ when I don’t quite have the right tool for the job. Vice grips as a vice, a chisel as a screwdriver, I can be brutal. Which often ended up in disasters like my included picture. I had an incident like this a few years back that involved a stubborn floorboard, a hammer (substituting for a pry bar) and cheater bar. My advice would be to spend the few extra bucks to buy quality tools. 3 cheapo broken hammers are going to run you more than a quality one that will last a lifetime.
